Dastaar

After attacking and beating a Sikh man, a gang of racist white men then force him to bite a street curb, whereupon it is implied they stomp on the back of his head. Another man is dropped into a container of water and fuel, the surface of which is set alight, forcing him to stay underwater until he drowns. There are also prolonged gunfights, fist fights and beatings, with occasional bloody detail.

There are sustained scenes of menacing racist behaviour. Sequences of gun threat include one in which a villain threatens a man’s children in an attempt to force him to take his own life.

There is infrequent use of strong language (‘f**k’). Milder terms include ‘shit’, ‘bloody’, ‘arse’ and ‘sod’.

The film contains prolonged scenes of racist behaviour, including violence, intimidation and verbal abuse. A gang of white racists attack and murder a Sikh man, and tear off another man’s turban while taunting and threatening him. Racism is condemned within the narrative.

There is a brief sequence of sexual harassment.

There is occasional bloody detail in the aftermath of violence.

There are upsetting scenes of bereavement and emotional distress.
