A comic fight scene features stylised punches, kicks and slaps, without visible injuries.

Bad language includes ‘bloody’, ‘shit’, ‘crap’, ‘damn’, ‘heck’ and ‘oh my God’.

There are infrequent mild sex references.

A wedding guest wonders how a ‘dark’ groom married such a beautiful bride; this attitude is not condoned by the film, however. There is also occasional casual use of discriminatory language relating to mental health, such as 'nuts' and 'crazy'.

There are scenes involving suicidal ideation and attempted suicide. Some of these are played for laughs and depict suicidal individuals being persuaded against killing themselves by the intervention of others. However, another such scene is more serious in tone, and features brief mild injury detail.

The film contains discreet verbal references to a man having ‘interfered with’ a woman when she was a child. The woman is briefly shown experiencing brief audio flashbacks of her own voice begging ‘uncle’ to stop.

Scenes throughout the film depict a person with dissociative identity disorder cycling through different ‘personalities’, to comic effect. The film’s depiction of DID, which is referred to as ‘split personality disorder’, is inaccurate and outdated: for example, a psychologist claims that a person with DID will become ‘normal’ if their alternate personality is allowed to complete their ‘unfinished business’. However, the film's ultimate message is one of acceptance and compassion in regard to mental health issues.
