DARK HARVEST is a US fantasy horror film which concerns a violent annual ritual in which 'Sawtooth Jack' rises from the cornfields and takes on the the town’s teenage boys in a bloody fight for survival.
violence
There are scenes in which people are stabbed, slashed, shot and eviscerated, often accompanied by blood spurts. In one scene, the top of a young man's head is sliced off. In another scene, people sheltering in a storm basement are torn apart off-screen, accompanied by a deluge of blood which pours out of the entrance of their hideout.
threat and horror
There are several scenes of prolonged threat and horror in which people are menaced by an often hidden entity that lurks in the dark.
language
There is strong language ('f**k'), as well as milder terms (for example, 'shit', 'bullshit', 'frig', 'piss', 'screw, 'asshole', 'ass', 'God', 'damn', 'Jesus'). There is also discriminatory language (for example, 'negro', 'picaninny', 'boogie', 'pansy', 'nancy'). However, discriminatory language is used by negatively presented characters and is also often challenged. Accordingly, the film as a whole does not condone discrimination.
suicide and self-harm
A woman takes her own life in a scene in which she stabs herself in the throat
injury detail
A bisected corpse is flung out of a cornfield. After 'Sawtooth Jack' is vanquished, teenage boys dig into his corpse and remove intestines which they eat.
additional issues
There are also scenes of smoking, and which reflect the time period in which the film is set.
