In a puppet show, a grandmother attempts to sew her granddaughter in what is implied to be the genitals, in order to protect her from the harm men might cause. The granddaughter puppet responds by stabbing the other puppet with a needle. References are made to violence and torture, including violence directed towards children.

During a flashback to a female genital mutilation ceremony, a child is restrained while a woman holding a razorblade prepares to perform the procedure; however, it quickly becomes apparent in this instance that she was interrupted. Other moments of threat include a building being set on fire and people having unsettling nightmares.

Mild bad language includes uses of 'shit', as well as very mild terms such as 'hell' and 'God'.

Occasional verbal mild sex references include references to virginity, and to girls getting their periods.
