People are shot repeatedly with machine guns, resulting in spurts of blood and gore. A man slams a metal door onto someone's fingers, severing them bloodily.

A tense atmosphere runs throughout the film as characters try to escape infected, zombie-like people, although scenes of threat are often intercut with comedy.

There is use of strong language ('f**k') as well as an implied use of 'motherf**ker'. Milder terms include 'son of a bitch', 'asshole', 'shit', 'bullshit', 'bastard', 'ass', 'screw', 'moron', 'hell', 'damn', 'Jesus', 'Christ' and 'God'.

A woman briefly points a gun at herself, but the suicide is averted. Another woman, who has been infected with the fungus, shoots herself to stop it from spreading.

A parasitic fungus causes people and animals to vomit copious amounts of blood and gore before exploding into viscera, leaving behind gory remains. Characters' heads explode, resulting in spurts of infected brain matter and an exposed skull. There is sight of a partially decapitated man and a man's chest bursts open. Infected rats are seen tied together by the tails and eating each other's innards, and an infected cat impales its head on a metal pole.
