violence
Scenes of strong violence include stabbings and slashings resulting in sight of bloody wounds. There are crunchy kicks, punches and throws in lengthy, choreographed scenes of stylised hand to hand fighting. There is brief sight of a man being tortured on a spiked rack and cut by his attackers. A woman is apparently grabbed by the jaws of an unseen beast which then flails her body around and smashes it against a rock, although impacts of this attack are hidden from sight.
threat and horror
Strong threat include attacks by a monstrous wolf-like creature who may be supernatural in origin. We see several characters running through woodland to escape attacks and others being stalked by the creature in darkened areas. There are scenes of gun and knife threat.
sex
We see a man and woman having sex, with gentle thrusting and sight of breasts and buttocks. There is brief sight of female breast and buttock nudity in a brothel, in which we also glimpse a pornographic painting of a man having sex with a woman with sight of a hand around his erect penis which seems to be inserted into a woman who reclines above him.
sexual violence and sexual threat
A woman is raped by her brother, who grabs her by the hair and throws her to the floor before ripping her clothes as she screams. The film cuts away from the details of this attack, and there is no sight of nudity. This moment is preceded by a growing sexual threat in which the man repeatedly corners and sexually assaults the woman, trying to kiss and caress her as she attempts to escape. There is a scene of implied sexual violence in which a man grabs a woman by the hair to kiss her, but it quickly becomes clear this is consensual. There is a moment of brief sexualised violence in which a woman slashes a man's chest off-screen after sex and then licks the blood from the blade; the man does not give consent to this act, but does not object afterwards.
injury detail
We see several bloodied and injured corpses in a medical context as their bodies are examined, resulting in sight of strong injury detail. Characters sustain bloody slash and stab wounds. A woman has a seizure of some kind and foams at the mouth.
We see wolves being shot and killed by a hunting party. A man displays dated racist attitudes and uses the term 'negro' but his views are not shared by the protagonists. There is moderate bad language ('whore') and milder terms which include 'bastard' and 'damn'.
