Mary Shelley reveals the main characters of her novel survived: Dr. Frankenstein, goaded by an even madder scientist, builds his monster a mate.

Threat and horror
The appearance of the monster creates a mild sense of horror, with scars visible on his body and metal bolts protruding from his neck. There is also a mild sense of threat when he abducts and carries off Dr Frankenstein's wife.
Violence occurs when the monster attacks various characters, drowning one and pushing rocks onto another. A lynch mob is also seen beating the monster with sticks. In one scene, a man is momentarily seen hanging by his neck in the background. There are scenes of smoking, which are neither glamorised nor promotional.
