violence
Strong gory violence includes limb severings, decapitations, stabbings, slashings, bone breaks, shootings, and use of improvised weapons. Hammers and crowbars are used to break teeth and jaws, a cheese grater is dragged across people's skin, and a mechanical clamp severs a man's arm. People are beaten with spiked paddles, struck with mallets, tasered, and curb stomped. On one occasion, a child has hot pokers stuck in his ears, his tongue cut out, and is hung from a rope. Other moments include wound grabbing, tendon severing, and use of a knuckle duster firearm to blow a man's head off. Aftermath images include frequent sights of dead bodies lying in pools of blood, as well as a crushed skull.
threat and horror
People are pulled from their homes by armed guards and executed during a ceremony called 'the culling'. There are also scenes in which people are threatened with violence, held captive and brainwashed.
language
There is infrequent use of very strong language ('c**t'), more frequent use of strong language ('motherf**ker', 'f**k'), references to rude gestures and use of milder terms ('prick', 'bitch', 'dick', 'shit', 'asshole', 'bastard', 'Jesus', 'Christ', 'damn', 'God', 'hell').
drugs
There is use of hallucinogens by a young boy and his mentor. Both are seen hallucinating and enjoying themselves. People inhale vapor from a fantastical implement which gives them increased energy and an aversion to pain.
