violence
Strong violence features shooting and stabbings which are accompanied by bloodshed. A father reacts violently to his adult daughter's disobedience by grabbing her by the throat and delivering a hard slap to her face.
threat and horror
There is moderate gun threat. In mountaineering scenes, climbers encounter problems on rock faces and the threat of avalanches.
language
There is infrequent strong language ('f**k'), as well as milder terms such as 'sons of bitches' and 'God'.
sex
Scenes of strong sex feature thrusting and the fondling of bare breasts. A woman sits back in an armchair and parts her legs under her skirt in a sexual invitation to a man.
discrimination
A father asserts his control over his daughter, citing custom and tradition, as he compels her to marry a man against her wishes. A Nazi officer says that despite being Jewish a woman is a "good specimen"; there are other references to antisemitism and ethnic discrimination, which is not endorsed by the work as a whole.
sexual violence and sexual threat
A woman is uneasy on her wedding night as the man to whom she has been forced to marry approaches her and rips open her nightdress to reveal her breasts in a clear expectation of what he regards as the fulfilment of his marital rights. A woman is ordered to undress by a Nazi medical officer, and although she remains clothed it is implied she is being examined for participation in a forced breeding programme.
injury detail
A man emerges from an off-screen beating with heavily-bloodied face and clothing. There is also sight of dead bodies in the aftermath of mass executions, on which bloody injury is present. Corpses lie in open coffins in preparations for funeral rituals.
theme
There are mild upsetting scenes centred on bereavement.
