BETRAYED is a Norwegian war drama which follows the lives of a tight-knit Jewish Norwegian family after their town is occupied by Nazi soldiers.
There is infrequent use of very strong language ('c**t'), and use of other terms ('f**k', 'son of a bitch', 'ass', 'God').
There are scenes of strong sex, with breast and buttock nudity.
There are scenes of strong threat were Jewish prisoners are made to run, crawl and bury each other in a trench at gunpoint by Nazi soldiers. Another is thrown into a pig pen after refusing to fight a guard and has his face pressed into a pig's backside. A group of naked Jewish camp inmates are led away by guards, we fear, to their deaths.
There is a sustained scene of strong violence with kicks and punches where a prisoner and guard fight one another. A father slaps his adult son hard across the face for speaking negatively about his Jewish heritage.
There are scenes of historical discrimination and focus on emotional upset where Jews are separated from their families, arrested, 'called Jewish pigs', have their belongings taken from them and are placed in detention camps.
