Barrio Triste

There is a brief fist fight. Gunfire is heard during an off-screen shooting.

A gang of teens loot a jewellery store, holding the owner and customers at gunpoint in a prolonged and intense scene. Scenes of horror include a menacing shadow creature with contorted limbs. In another sequence, characters listen to a disturbing radio interview of a man who claims to be a serial killer.

There is use of strong language (‘f**k’, ‘motherf***ker’). Milder terms include ‘hooker’, ‘pussy’. ‘shit’ and ‘asshole’.

We see walls graffitied with crude stick-figure drawings of monsters with oversized erections, some of whom appear to be being fellated by bare-breasted human women. Another scene contains non-graphic verbal references to sex work.

Verbal references to marijuana misuse occur infrequently.

There are scenes depicting suicidal behaviour, and descriptions of suicidal ideation.

An eviscerated corpse is seen lying in a large pool of blood. There is also brief sight of a moderately bloodied dead body in the aftermath of an off-screen shooting.

Teenage characters describe feelings of loneliness, grief and despair.

This work contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
