Anomie

People are stabbed and bludgeoned during infrequent scenes of strong violence, resulting in blood spurts and bloody aftermath detail. Milder violence includes gunfire, tasering, slaps, kicks, punches, body slams, headbutts, and use of improvised weapons such as bottles and plates. In another scene a person shoots a snake; however, there is no evidence of real animal cruelty.

There are moderate scenes of threat and suspense. Brief but intense flashbacks depict a fatal car accident, with fleeting bloody aftermath detail.

There is infrequent use of strong language (‘f**k’). Milder terms include ‘shit’, ‘bastard’, ‘crap’, and ‘fricking’, in addition to use of the ‘middle finger’ gesture.

There are brief references to drug misuse and dealing.

References to suicide and mental health issues run throughout the film, as a serial killer targets people who have been treated for depression and suicidal ideation, and disguises the murders as suicides. Brief flashbacks show the aftermath of an actual suicide, without strong injury detail.

There are frequent crime scene images of dead bodies, including close-up shots of their faces. Most of the corpses lack visible injuries but one is moderately bloody, with cuts and puncture wounds on the neck and torso. Short autopsy sequences include sight of a bloodless incision being made on a dead man’s chest.

The film contains occasional upsetting scenes of bereavement.
