violence
Throughout the film there are occasional verbal references to a child ostensibly having died as the result of physical abuse by a parent. A series of fragmented flashbacks show a woman striking her young stepdaughter. Further scenes of violence include moderate crunchy blows and a sequence of knife threat.
suicide and self-harm
A woman attempts suicide, resulting in brief sight of blood. In another scene, a person stages a fake suicide attempt by deliberately injuring themself, with strong bloody aftermath detail. There are also non-graphic references to another person having taken their own life off screen.
injury detail
Multiple flashback scenes show a child lying unconscious in a pool of blood after an off-screen physical assault. In another scene, gangsters repeatedly strike a man with a heavy ashtray, resulting in aftermath images of blood on his face and clothes.
additional issues
There is infrequent use of strong language (‘f**k’) and implied strong language (‘motherf–’, ‘MILF’); milder terms include ‘tits’, ‘bloody hell’, ‘bastard’, ‘ass’, 'shit' and ‘bullshit’. We briefly see a scantily-clad woman dancing on a pole. A man is shown taking an unidentified pill at a strip club. Other issues include scenes of emotional upset, as well as infrequent sequences of sexist behaviour.
