There is a comic scene in which a boy (played by a man) tries to fellate himself, and is then caught masturbating by his mother. There is also a scene in which the same boy kisses the bare buttocks of a child minder while playing doctors. In another scene, there is some innuendo about anal sex as a man uses an inappropriate analogy to explain the theory of relativity.

Towards the end of the film, there is a scene in which several children (played by adults) use their skipping ropes to hang themselves. They are discovered by an adult who cuts them down and sprays water at them to revive them. They list the grievances and anxieties that led them to try and take their own lives.
