2023 Oscar Nominated Short Films - Animation

There are brief punch-ups in one animated short.

Comic scenes of threat and horror include a teenage girl imagining herself like a zombie. In another short a child and its father leap from a mountain-side house without a parachute when the house begins to fall away from a cliff. However, there is a reassuring outcome.

There is use of strong language ('f**k'), middle finger gestures, and milder terms including 'dick', 'shit' 'slut', 'bitch', 'ass', 'Christ' and 'God'.

There are frequent sex references in one short film, including to oral sex, losing one's virginity, the feel of a man's penis, and sequences in which characters attempt to initiate sex with a partner.

There are brief scenes of drug misuse, including cocaine snorting.

A 15 year old girl desires to lose her virginity and so attempts to have sex with multiple partners, some of whom are of an undisclosed age. In some scenes, males begin to kiss or grope the girl and it is not immediately clear if she has consented. There is also a passing reference to statutory rape.

There is brief sight of blood in animated films, including a comic sequence in which a teenage girl imagines ripping her ears off to stop hearing her dad talk about sex.

There is male genital nudity in stylised animation, most notably in a sequence in which an explosion blasts a man's clothes off.

There are scenes of emotional upset, including involving children, and themes of bereavement and grief.

This work contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
