Violence

Violence is the biggest age rating issue in this trailer, and is the reason why we gave it a PG. Po fights with a large stingray and soldiers with spears and knives. We see characters using kung fu moves, like big punches and kicks. Po and his enemy, The Chameleon, use ancient magic to make them more powerful. A PG lets grown ups knows that on a big screen these action scenes will be loud and impactful.

Threat

Scenes of threat include Po and his friends being chased by soldiers and other characters with swords and spears. They also come up against The Chameleon, who grows in size and towers over them while speaking in a deep voice. She also turns into an evil version of Po, with glowing blue eyes and sharp teeth. These moments might be a little scary for very young children, so a PG rating is there to let grown ups know what to expect.

Rude humour

In one scene, Po swallows some blossom which makes him cough and stick out his tongue. Another cheeky moment happens near the end of the trailer when Zhen tries to stop Po from sneezing, but the wind comes out of his bottom! These funny moments break up the rest of the action in the trailer and are likely to make children laugh. Rude humour like this would be fine in a trailer rated U.

Dangerous behaviour

A group of young rabbits are playing with fireworks, which could be very dangerous if copied in real life. But luckily no harm comes to the rabbits, and Po even warns them to be careful when handling the fireworks. This means that this scene is suitable for a trailer aimed at children.

Bad language

Po says, ‘I’m gonna kick my butt!’ ‘Butt’ is considered very mild bad language, but would have been okay in a U-rated trailer.
