Introduction

  • Skills Arena Character DNA (colour wheel) questionnaire results

Why and How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to:

  • Assess your suitability for the job role (legitimate interest, contractual necessity)

  • Schedule and manage interviews (legitimate interest)

  • Conduct equal opportunities and diversity monitoring (legal obligation and substantial public interest)

  • Make reasonable adjustments for disabled applicants (legal obligation and explicit consent)

  • Maintain recruitment records and comply with legal obligations (legal obligation)

Automated Decision-Making

The BBFC does not make recruitment decisions based solely on automated processes, including profiling. All recruitment decisions involve human assessment and judgement. The Character DNA, is a personality assessment method that is used by the BBFC as a means of improving teamwork, communication, and productivity in the workplace. It is created to improve understanding of an individual's needs and requirements, the assessments provide unique insight into their personality traits. It is never used as the sole basis for any recruitment decision.

Data Retention

  • Successful Applicants: Retained for 6 years post-employment, except when longer periods are required by law (e.g., tax or pension purposes).

  • Unsuccessful Applicants: Retained for 6-12 months post-recruitment to manage potential legal claims. With explicit consent, data may be kept longer for consideration in future job roles.

  • Right-to-Work Documentation: Retained for 2 years post-employment termination, as required by law.

Special Category Data

Special category data (health, disability, ethnicity, etc.) is collected only with your voluntary consent and used exclusively for equal opportunity monitoring and making reasonable recruitment adjustments. Such data is handled confidentially and securely.

Sharing Your Data

We do not share your recruitment-related personal data externally, nor do we transfer your data outside the UK or EEA.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data

  • Request corrections to inaccurate data

  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations)

  • Limit processing of your data

  • Object to data processing

  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
