Stand Up Guys
Contains strong language, violence and sex references
violence
The violence consists of some shootings with varying degrees of detail and levels of bloodshed. Brief blood spurts are seen from bullet impacts and some blood soaked clothing is seen as a result of bullet wounds. A scene in which some men are beaten with a baseball bat is played entirely off the sounds of the blows and the men's howls of pain, rather than actual sight of the bat making contact.
language
The film contains frequent strong language ('f**k'), including some explicitly sexual uses.
sex
The strong sex references revolve largely around the character of Val who, after 28 years in prison, is desperate for some sex but has to resort to the use of Viagra in order to manage this. He overdoses on the drug and has to be admitted to hospital to deal with his permanent state of tumescence. There is also some verbal banter between him and his two male friends about their sexual prowess with some prostitutes.
additional issues
The film contains some abuse of prescription drugs. One of the characters swallows a large amount of Viagra and is later seen crushing more pills, together with some prescription tranquillisers, and then snorting them through a straw. There is one moment of racism when the ex-convict appears surprised that the doctor treating him is a black man and questions his credentials.
