Note: The following text may contain spoilers

THE WIZARD OF OZ is a fantasy musical from 1939 in which a young girl called Dorothy travels to a magical land.

Dorothy is placed in threatening and scary situations, both in the 'real' world, where she is caught up in a storm, and in the fantasy land of Oz where she is pursued by an evil witch, captured by an army of flying monkeys, and imprisoned in the witch's castle. None of these scenes are sustained and the scary moments are resolved quickly. There is a focus on the bravery and resourcefulness of Dorothy and her friends as they face these dangers.
