WAITING FOR THE BARBARIANS is a drama in which a magistrate working in a desert outpost questions his values and loyalties.

Violence

In one scene men are beaten, and young girl joins in with the beating. In another scene, a man screams in pain when he is hauled off the ground by a rope attached to his wrists. These scenes are accompanied by threat.

Injury detail

In one scene, a dead soldier's cap is removed to reveal that the top of his head has been sliced off. There are also several scenes showing wound detail and blood, often as a result of torture.

Theme

The film contains some strong references to torture.

There is also infrequent strong language ('f**k'), mild sex references and brief nudity.
