TRANCE is a British crime thriller in which an auction house employee conspires with a criminal gang to steal a valuable painting. It is rated 15 for strong bloody violence, gore, sex, nudity and strong language.

Strong violence and associated gore features mostly in scenes of shootings. In one scene, part of a hypnosis-induced dream, a character is shot in the head and chest. When he stands up to confront his assailant, the top half of his head is missing, with blood and brain tissue evident. In another scene a man is interrupted as he attempts to assault a woman. He is deliberately shot in his clothed genitals, with a large spurt of blood from his groin.

There is also a brief gruesome image towards the end of the film when the body of a woman is discovered in the boot of the car. There is no blood or injury detail, but the corpse is covered in blow flies. The film also contains a scene of torture, with sight of a man screaming as he is held down over a crate in a deserted warehouse. There is blood on his fingers and it is inferred that a fingernail has been removed, after which another fingernail is pulled off.

There are two sex senes, both being brief and showing little detail. In one a woman straddles a man as he sits on a bed, with some sexual thrusting in long shot. There is also full female nudity, as a woman emerges from a bathroom having shaved her genitals, with the man commenting on what she has done.

TRANCE also includes strong language ('f**k').

No-one younger than 15 may see a 15 rated film in the cinema. No-one younger than 15 may rent or buy a 15 rated video or DVD.
