STORAGE 24 is a British horror feature about a group of people who find themselves trapped in a storage unit with a bloodthirsty alien. The film was classified '15' for strong language, threat and horror.

There is frequent use of strong language throughout the film, taking it beyond the BBFC's Guidelines at '12A'/'12' which require 'The use of strong language (for example, 'fuck') must be infrequent'.

The threat and horror which is strong and sustained also goes beyond the '12A'/'12' category, where 'Moderate physical and psychological threat may be permitted, provided disturbing sequences are not frequent or sustained'. There are moments of bloody horror and violence when the alien attacks humans, including removing a man's heart. But these moments are brief and in keeping with the Guideline requirements at '15' they do not dwell on the infliction of pain. The violence is also being committed by a fantastical creature and there are several moments of comedy which relieve some of the tension.

Precuts information

During post-production, the distributor sought and was given advice on how to secure the desired classification. Following this advice, certain changes were made prior to submission

This film was originally shown to the BBFC in an unfinished version. The BBFC advised the company that the film was likely to receive an '18' classification but that the requested '15' certificate could be achieved by reducing the level of gore visible in five scenes (sight of a man's mutilated face, sight of a man's heart being pulled out of his chest, sight of a man's jaw being dislocated and hanging off, sight of a man's head being smashed against the floor, and sight of a man's face being torn off). When the finished version of the film was submitted, the five scenes had been sufficiently reduced by cuts and visual darkening and the film was classified '15'.
