Note: The following text may contain spoilers

STARFISH is a drama, based on a true story, about a family who are thrown into turmoil when the husband contracts a brutally damaging illness.

There is occasional strong language ('f**k'). Milder bad language includes uses of 'God', 'shit', 'crap' and 'bloody'.

Disturbing images

Upset and distress is caused to the character who contracts the illness, as well as to his family members, by the symptoms associated with the onset of the illness and by the consequences of the surgery that he undergoes. The surgery involves the amputation of limbs and the reconstruction of facial features.

There are also mild sex references in conversations about the effects the central character's illness is having on his marriage.
