THE RAVEN is a murder mystery in which Edgar Allan Poe assists a detective who is trying to solve murders based on those described in Poe's fictional works.

In one scene, a man is tied down to a slab, after which a sharpened pendulum is released, slicing into his stomach in gory fashion. In another scene, a police officer is attacked by a man wielding a knife, which cuts his throat, causing blood to briefly gush from the wound. There are also some grisly images showing victims' corpses and body parts. These include sight of a severed tongue, a dead woman with her throat cut, and a dead man whose lips have been stitched together and which are then unstitched to reveal an object that has been placed in his mouth.

There is also infrequent strong language ('f**k'), and a mild sex reference.
