THE PARTS YOU LOSE is a US drama in which a lonely young boy bonds with an injured fugitive.

Language

There is infrequent use of strong language (‘f**k’). Milder terms include 'pussy', 'shit', 'son of a bitch' and 'ass'.

Injury detail

There is a brief sequence of moderate bloody detail when a man sews up a wound on his side.

Discrimination

There are occasional scenes of discrimination towards a deaf child, including infrequent use of the term ‘retard’. The work as a whole does not condone discrimination.

Threat and horror

There are brief sequences of threat, including a sequence in which gunshots heard from an offscreen shoot-out and others in which a man behaves in a threatening manner towards a child.

It is implied that an abusive father struck his son off screen, resulting in a bruise on the boy’s face. Other issues include occasional scenes of classroom bullying.
