IMPRISONED is a US thriller drama in which a woman struggles to survive her first night in a Soviet prison camp.

Sexual violence

There are scenes of sexual threat after a female prisoner is sent to a guard’s office for sex, but the rape is eventually averted. There are occasional verbal references to sexual violence.

Threat and horror

Prisoners are held in a gulag under constant threat of violence. In one scene a group of women beat another woman and prepare to burn her with wood from a fire.

Violence

A guard whips a prisoner, resulting in brief close-up images of a bloody wound. A man is stabbed in the eye and another in the abdomen, but there is no strong visual detail. Another scene shows an abusive husband mocking and threatening his wife and slapping her face.

There is moderate gore when a woman peels off her own blackened fingernail. There is also infrequent use of moderate bad language (‘bitch’).
