Note: The following text may contain spoilers

HERCULES is a fantasy action adventure about the demigod of Greek mythology, who leads an army into battle against a tyrannical warlord as he seeks revenge for the murder of his family.

Scenes of violence include Hercules killing fantastical monsters, and battles in which armies clash with swords, axes, clubs and bows and arrows. The focus of these battle scenes is on fast paced action rather than on dwelling on pain and injury. There are occasional blood spurts when weapons make impacts, and also some bloody images in the aftermath of violent incidents. The historical setting of the action and clear elements of fantasy in the story distance the violence from the real world.

There are occasional comic, bawdy references to 'buxom naked Amazons' and 'exciting bondage', and a character is accused of being more influenced by a 'pair of breasts' than by money when agreeing to a business proposition.

There is one use of strong language ('f**k') and milder bad language including ‘hell’, ‘crap’, 'shit', ‘bastard’.

Precuts information

During post-production, the distributor sought and was given advice on how to secure the desired classification. Following this advice, certain changes were made prior to submission

Note: The following text may contain spoilers

This film was originally seen for advice in an incomplete form. The company was informed that it was likely to be classified 15, but that their preferred 12A could be achieved by reducing some bloody detail in three scenes. When the finished version was submitted for formal classification, those moments had been addressed.
