GNOMEO & JULIET is an animation feature about garden gnomes, Gnomeo and Juliet, who come from feuding gnome families in neighbouring gardens but fall in love. The film was classified 'U' for mild threat and innuendo.

There are a few scenes of mild threat. In one scene, a villain gnome knocks the hat part of another gnome with a trowel. Then two gnomes fight on a moving lawn-mower as the hero tries to do the same to the villain using a crowbar. In the end, the lawn-mower crashes into a wall and we hear sounds of the villain gnome breaking, although we do not see any impact. We see some pieces of broken gnome and another announces solemnly, "Tybalt cannot be with us anymore". The hero is chased by the gnomes, who catapult rocks at him, and he eventually ends up in the road where it is implied that a lorry has run him over. The gnomes are shocked as they see a pile of broken gnome in the road. However, this is soon followed by the realisation that the hero has actually survived and is alive and well. In another scene, the warring gnomes throw or catapult tomatoes and blueberries at each other, while a monster lawn-mower destroys the garden. It is implied that the lawn-mower destroys a tower with the hero and heroine standing in it and there is a brief period of shock and grief before they emerge completely unharmed. At 'U', the BBFC's Guidelines allow for 'Mild violence only. Occasional mild threat or menace only'. There is also some mild innuendo, examples of which include a comment from a frog to the heroine: "Nice junk in the trunk" as she tries on an outfit, referring to the size of her buttocks. A gnome says "I love going commando" as he and the hero go undercover at night in commando-style outfits, and there is a reference to "Squirrel dropped his nuts. Nuts, the size of boulders", with a little emphasis on the first part of the word 'boulders'. At 'U', the Guidelines allow for 'Mild sexual behaviour (for example, kissing) and references only (for example, to 'making love')'.
