THE FAST & THE FURIOUS is the first instalment of the US action drama franchise in which an undercover FBI agent becomes embroiled with a crew of street racers responsible for a spate of high-speed truck robberies.

Language

There is infrequent strong language ('f**k'), including a partial use of 'motherf**ker'. Milder terms include 'bastard', 'shit', 'son of a bitch', 'bullshit', 'asshole', 'ass', 'crappy', 'God', 'Jesus Christ', 'hell' and 'damn'. There are also some discriminatory terms, such as 'faggot' and 'nigga', but these are spoken in peer-to-peer contexts. A White cop refers to a biker gang as 'Asian punks', and there is also a bar called 'NEGRO'.

Violence

There are scenes of moderate action violence, containing gunfights and crunchy blows, resulting in brief bloody detail. There is also a scene in which a man pours oil into the mouth of another man during an interrogation.

Sex

There are moderate references to sexual activity, including sight of a topless man kissing a woman in bed, as well as a man putting his face into a woman's cleavage as she straddles him. Some scenes contain verbal references to sex, such as a man shouting 'Let's go, ménage!', hoping for a threesome, as well as a man referring to a bike as a 'crotch rocket'. Other sexualised imagery includes a woman offering a man her partially clothed breast if he wins a car race, as well as a woman being doused in water on the sidelines of a racing event, briefly pulling her trousers down to reveal her thong.

There are also sequences containing high-speed motor-car racing, including a scene in which two men drag race across train tracks, only just avoiding an oncoming train.
