ANNA KARENINA is an adaptation of the classic Russian novel by Leo Tolstoy. Aristocratic Anna is in a comfortable but dull marriage when she meets the dashing Count Vronsky, beginning an affair that will throw their lives into turmoil.

The film contains a scene in which the couple consummate their adulterous relationship. There is no nudity but there are glimpses of bare flesh on arms, legs and backs as the couple touch and kiss. The woman is seen sitting on the man's lap and then moving gently up and down. Later in the film the same couple are seen lying together under a sheet with the man's bare buttock visible.

Bad language includes uses of 'whore', 'slut' and 'damn'.

Injury detail

There is a brief but bloody image when we see the body of a man who has been struck by a train. There is some sight of a wound on the man's stomach and an impression of his intestines hanging out from the wound but the image is brief and shadowy and shown from a distance.

A character is shown to take some drops of morphine and several characters also smoke cigarettes. At the end of the film a character takes their own life by jumping in front of a train but the impact is not shown and only a few drops of blood are visible on the person's face afterwards.

During a horse race one animal is seen to fall heavily onto the ground, rolling over on its head and neck. The effect was created with computer generated images and no real animal was harmed.
