THE EXPENDABLES 2 is an action sequel about a group of mercenaries sent on a mission to obtain an item of importance to World stability.

Violence

The film contains frequent scenes of action violence in which the main characters engage in fire-fights with various opponents. There are also a number of hand to hand combat scenes, which include the use of knives. In one scene a man is riddled with bullets, creating a bloody mess on his torso. Blood is seen to splash onto walls and onto the windows inside vehicles as men are hit by bullets and grenades. In some cases bodies are blown apart in a red blur but without any clear or lingering detail. The most callous violence is carried out by the villains. This includes the casual shooting of prisoners and an attempt to kill workers en masse.

There is mild bad language, including uses of 'shit', 'bastard', 'bollocks', 'piss poor', 'crap', 'hell', 'ass' and 'damn'. There is also a single use of 'retard', although the film does not endorse discriminatory attitudes or behaviour. There are also some mild sex references and scenes of smoking.
