DESPICABLE ME is an animated comedy about an arch villain called Gru who adopts three orphaned girls in the hope that they’ll help him defeat his enemy, Vector.

Threat

Occasional scary scenes occur in which characters appear to be in danger, including from a shark attack, falling from a great height, or having rockets pointed at them, but these moments are brief and often comic in nature.

Violence

There are frequent scenes of slapstick violence in which characters comically fall or break things, as well as sequences in which small non-human characters hit each other with hammers, a keyboard, or shoot each other with rockets in a comic manner.

Language

Infrequent very mild bad language includes use of 'butt'.

There are infrequent moments of very mild crude humour, including use of a 'fart gun' and the non-human characters laughing at photocopies of their bottoms.

At one point, a young girl holds her breath until she gets what she wants, although she is seen to almost pass out doing so and her guardian is annoyed at her behaviour.
