Extended Classification Information (*SPOILER ALERT* Information may include plot details) LINHA DE PASSE is a subtitled Portuguese language film set against a backdrop of Sao Paulo, Brazil which follows the story of four brothers from a poor family struggling to follow their dreams. It was passed '15' for strong language, sex and drug use. With regard to language at '15', the BBFC's Guidelines state 'There may be frequent use of strong language (eg 'fuck')' and with around 40 uses of strong language this is acceptable at '15'. There is one strong sex scene that shows bare breasts and head and shoulders and rhythmic thrusting, but this lacks any clear detail and is suitable at '15' where 'Sexual activity may be portrayed but without strong detail' On the issue of drugs, guidelines at '15' state 'Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not promote or encourage drug misuse'. There is one scene in which one of the brothers is seen with friends at a party and it is suggested that acid is taken. Although we briefly see the friends dancing as if having a good time, the main character is found passed out and in a bad way the next day. There is a clear and aversive message about the dangers of hard drug use, and neither the scene nor the film as a whole promotes or encourages such behaviour. In addition there is one scene of violence in which a young man acts in anger and lashes out at being falsely accused of being a thief, hitting his boss several times with a paperweight. The impact of the blows is hidden from view and the scene is bloodless. There are also several scenes of 'smash and grab' theft from cars by scooter passengers which are shown to have serious consequences and two uses of racist language which are not condoned.
