CSNY/DÉJÀ VU is a documentary about the recent “Freedom of Speech” tour by the musicians Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, set against the backdrop of the US war in Iraq. It was classified ‘15’ for strong language and reality war footage.

Some concert goers are enraged by the band’s overt politics, which gives rise to strong language. Other instances of strong language are clearly seen when mouthed. The BBFC Guidelines at ’12A’ state that ‘the use of strong language (eg 'fuck') must be infrequent’ and the amount of strong language in the film was felt to go beyond this restriction.

In the context of the band’s anti-war stance, the documentary also shows some real footage of warfare, including brief stills of soldiers’ bloody injuries, sight of a dead person's foot, and a man being suddenly shot dead. Although there is no dwelling on these images, they were felt to be too distressing at ‘12A’, where BBFC Guidelines state ‘there should be no emphasis on injuries or blood … Occasional gory moments only’.
