Extended Classification Information (*SPOILER ALERT* Information may include plot details) IL TRITTICO is a collection of three operettas by Puccini (IL TABARRO, SUOR ANGELICA and GIANNI SCHICCI) filmed as they were performed in a single evening on the stage of La Scala in Milan. The work was classified 'PG' for mild language and sex references. The BBFC Guidelines at 'PG' allow for 'mild bad language only' and the work contains infrequent uses of 'damn', as well as one use each of 'slut' and 'whore'. These terms appear in English subtitles that accompany the Italian language libretto and are not directed as the characters to whom they refer are offstage at the time. In this context, and given the manner in which words are used, the language accords with the Guidelines at 'PG'. The mild sex references are expressed in an indirect manner and are unlikely to be understood by younger viewers. A visual reference - when a character holds up an unrolled condom in a passage of song in which she recalls the loves of her younger days - is not dwelt upon or given the particular emphasis. It does not go beyond the requirement of the Guidelines at 'PG' that there may be 'mild sex references...only'. Themes of adultery and suicide within the work are handled with restraint and discretion, whilst the strangling of a man in IL TABARRO is portrayed in a melodramatic manner that is familiar from operatic performances and contains no strong or unduly upsetting detail.
