Council of Management

Control business affairs.

In order to preserve its independence, the BBFC's income is derived solely from the fees it charges for its services, calculated by measuring the running time of films or video works submitted for certification. The tariff must be approved by the relevant Government department. The Board is not organised for profit, and its fees are adjusted only as required to cover its costs.

The Council of Management is responsible for senior appointments and the financial oversight for the BBFC. Its members are excluded from classification decisions and policy, and must have no actual or perceived conflict of interest in relation to them. They do, however, need to be persons who command the confidence of the Board's customers.
