THE WITCH is a period horror drama in which a Puritan family attempt to start a new life on the borders of a forest, unaware that an evil spirit lurks within.

Threat

There are frequent scenes of threat in which characters, including children, are terrorised by supernatural occurrences.

There are also some disturbing horror images, including a bird pecking at a woman's breast, sight of disemboweled animals, and an elderly woman washing herself in blood.

Violence

Scenes of violence include stabbings, the implied severing of a baby's penis, and a man being stabbed by a ram's horns.

There are occasional scenes of natural nudity, including female breast and buttock nudity, and sight of a naked male baby.
