THE WIND RISES is an animated drama, in Japanese with English subtitles, about Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed the fighter planes used by Japan in World War II.

Disturbing images

A brief scene shows a character, who is suffering from an illness, coughing up blood onto a painting.

Smoking

The film shows adults smoking in the context of its period setting.

The film also contains mild threat during scenes in which planes crash - in dream sequences, during test flights and in aerial battles. There is no detail of human injury. The film also contains very mild bad language, such as 'damn' and 'butt out'.
