WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S ROMEO + JULIET is a 1996 US adaptation of Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet.

Violence

There are a number of fight scenes between two rival families. In some sequences, people are stabbed or shot and some blood is visible, although this is not dwelt upon. There are also some heavy punches and kicks, as well as a headbutt, during hand-to-hand fighting.

The film includes a sex scene in which the main characters undress, kiss and embrace, later being seen entwined on a bed. However, there is no clear sight of nudity or visuals of sex.

At one point a character is given a 'love pill', resulting in a psychedelic experience. However, the drug is not clearly identified as an actual substance.

There is a scene of suicide.
