WHEN I SAW YOU is a subtitled drama about a young Palestinian boy who travels to a refugee camp in Jordan with his mother, in 1967, and struggles to fit in until he befriends a group of Palestinian freedom fighters.

Language

There is a single subtitled use of strong language ('f**ker') as some young boys bully another boy into handing over some roller-skates. Milder language includes 'son of a bitch' and 'goddamn'.

Threat

There is a general sense of potential danger, especially to the central child character, as he spends his time at a training camp surrounded by loaded weapons, guns and bomb making equipment. There is an increased sense of threat as the camp is at risk of being discovered, and when the child takes part in training exercises that involve live ammunition being fired at his feet.

Other issues include infrequent mild sex references, as soldiers shout insults to each other, such as men being 'easy as the streetwalkers' and a man having to pay a prostitute just to look him in the face. There is also brief sight of a small amount of blood on skin and bandages, as some soldiers return from a battle. Various characters are also seen to smoke cigarettes.
