TURBO is an animated film about a very fast snail who enters the Indianapolis 500 car race. The film is rated U and contains mild threat.
There are a few scenes of mild threat in which the tiny snail characters are placed in danger. A couple of the scenes involve crows, who are seen at the beginning of the film swooping down and plucking up snails at random. In one scene, the central character's brother is picked up by a crow. A second and then a third crow battle the first bird, apparently wanting to eat the snail. However, the snail's brother, who is now turbo-charged, whizzes to the rescue and the threat is quickly over. Later in the film, crows surround a group of snails and loom over them. However, in the next scene, we see the crows have been harnessed and are being ridden by the snails. There are some quite intense moments on the race-track, when the tiny snail speeds between the wheels of the racing cars, narrowly avoiding being squashed. At one point, a huge wheel moves in slow-motion towards the snail, but he manages to jump through a tiny hole at its centre and escape. The scenes of mild threat are short and we are never in any doubt that the snail hero will escape and triumph.
The film also contains some very mild slapstick violence, when another snail headbutts the hero, to get him on the move. However, he only uses his head because he doesn't have arms and the action translates to a 'snap out of it' slap on the cheek rather than anything more violent.
U stands for Universal, which means that we think the film is suitable for audiences aged four or older.
