THE TOWN (2010)

THE TOWN is an American thriller about Doug, a bank robber from the Boston suburb of Charlestown, who falls for Claire, a bank manager he took hostage but who does not realise he is the same man. It is rated 15 for very strong language, strong violence, infrequent sex and hard drug use.

The film contains one use of very strong language ('c**t'), which is spoken under a man's breath as he fights with another man. There is also frequent use of strong language ('f**k' and 'motherf**ker').

The film also includes scenes of strong violence, including sight of blood spurts as people are shot, sometimes at close range, and a scene where a man is beaten around the head with the butt of a gun, leaving him unconscious with his face covered in blood.

There are two sex scenes in the film. Neither scene offers much detail of sex or nudity but both contain a clear indication of thrusting.

This extended version of THE TOWN also contains two brief scenes of hard drug use, in which men snort cocaine. The original cut of the film only contained one such scene. Drug use is not a major theme of the film. The first man in question is an unattractive, unsympathetic character and the second is briefly depressed and uses the drug in a failed attempt to alleviate his condition. Other characters discuss how drug use has had a negative impact on their lives.

No-one younger than 15 may see a 15 rated film in the cinema. No-one younger than 15 may rent or buy a 15 rated video or DVD.
