SWEET COUNTRY is an Australian Western drama in which an Aboriginal farmhand must go on the run after killing a white man in self defence.

Language

There is frequent use of strong language ('f**k'). Milder terms include 'prick', 'shit', 'bullshit', 'dickhead', 'bastard', 'bloody', 'arse', 'piss' and 'balls'.

Injury detail

Brief close-up images of gory injuries include sight of blood spurting from a bullet wound in a man's neck.

Violence

Occasional scenes of violence include a shooting that results in heavy blood spray and aftermath wound detail. Milder violence includes non-graphic shootings, punches and scenes in which a man whips a young boy and chains him up outside.

A woman is raped; the scene takes place in the dark and is indicated only by sound.

Discrimination

There are scenes of racist behaviour throughout, including use of discriminatory terms (eg 'black bastard', 'boy', 'half caste') and racially motivated violence. The work as a whole does not condone discriminatory attitudes or language.
