Note: The following text may contain spoilers

THE SWEENEY is an action crime drama set in the present but based on the 1970s TV series. It focusses on a hardened London detective and his young partner who battle against a Serbian gang.

Language

There is frequent strong language ('f**k') and two uses of very strong language ('c**t').

Violence

There is some strong violence, often accompanied by loud and crunchy sound effects when head butts are delivered and when baseball bats are used as weapons. In one scene, a detective presses a gun into a pre-existing wound on a man's shoulder in order to extract information from him.

Other issues include a couple of sex scenes, without any nudity, some crude verbal and visual sex references, and a passing drug reference. One of the main characters smokes throughout.
