SUMMER IN FEBRUARY is a British pre-First World War period drama about the bohemian Lamorna Group of Newlyn School artists in Cornwall. Acclaimed artist AJ Munnings asks young artist Florence to marry him, just before land agent Gilbert Evans has a chance to do the same. The love triangle leads to tragic consequences.

Language

The film contains strong language ('f**k').

The film also contains a scene of sexual threat from a husband to his wife. In the bedroom, he grabs her and tries to unbutton her top, before pushing her on to the bed and demanding sex. They struggle and he pins her down, but she manages to escape by hitting out at him.

There are scenes of full frontal nudity as various women pose for an artist, run along the beach and swim, and stand in front of a mirror. None of the scenes are sexualised and they illustrate the bohemian lifestyle of the characters.

Finally, there is a suicide attempt as one of the main characters drinks from a small bottle labelled 'cyanide' before collapsing. However, she is saved in time. There is another suicide scene in which the character drinks from a small bottle and the next day is found dead on the floor of her home.
