THE SQUARE is a documentary about the events of the 'Arab Spring' and the struggle for democracy in Egypt. It is rated 15 for strong language, strong real violence and injury detail.

The documentary includes footage showing acts of real torture and the effects of torture and beatings. These include sight of a woman hanging from a pole, sight of a man's badly beaten face, and sight of the heavily scarred back of a victim of torture. There is also archive footage showing military vehicles crushing protestors beneath their wheels, as well as sight of dead people following this incident. However, there is no strong gore and no dwelling on the infliction of pain or injuries. The purpose of the footage is simply to document the events of the 'Arab Spring'. There is also less detailed footage showing rioting and clashes between protestors, police and military, sometimes resulting in sight of blood.

There are six uses of strong language ('f**k' and 'motherf**ker'), as well as some uses of milder bad language, including 'screwed', 'bastard' and 'shit'.

The film also contains scenes of smoking and an undetailed verbal reference to drug use.

No-one younger than 15 may see a 15 rated film in the cinema. No-one younger than 15 may rent or buy a 15 rated video or DVD.
