SPEC OPS: THE LINE is a third person shooter set in a modern day Gulf state. The game was classified '18' for strong violence and very strong language.

The game includes frequent strong violence within a realistic modern setting. Bloody injuries are shown to result from bullet and grenade impacts and there is occasional sight of head shots and bloodspurts. The game also includes moments in which the player is able to make choices about whether to help others or let them die, in one case allowing a person to suffer an agonising death. The BBFC's Guidelines at '15' state 'Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury'. Given the detail of blood and injury and the ability to act sadistically in permitting other characters to die, the game was more appropriately classified at '18'.

The game also includes frequent use of strong language and a single use of very strong language. The terms are used by soldiers in conversation with each other and are not usually aggressively directed.
