SMASHED is a melodrama about a young woman battling alcoholism while trying to hold down her job as a teacher.

Language

There are several uses of strong language ('f**k').

Sex

In one scene a female character rages at a shopkeeper who refuses to sell her alcohol after hours and makes an explicit sexual remark in an attempt to humiliate him. In another scene, a male colleague confesses his love of a woman and goes on to reveal his fantasies in explicit detail. In a scene of sex a woman sits astride her husband, vigorously attempting to engage with him. However, there is no nudity and the man passes out from drunkenness.

Drugs

There is one scene showing two women smoking crack cocaine from a pipe.

The film does not portray alcohol abuse as anything other than damaging, and scenes of drunkenness are neither glamorous nor presented as funny.
