THE SLEEPING BEAST WITHIN is a Japanese mystery drama, from 1960, in which a young woman and her journalist boyfriend try to get to the bottom of her father's strange behaviour after he returns from an overseas trip.

Nudity

There is a scene in which a man looks at a picture of a topless woman in a glamour pose. The woman in the picture is referred to as a 'stripper'.

There are some scenes of mild violence in which men punch and scuffle with one another, and a scene in which a man is injured when explosives are deliberately detonated. A man shoots himself in the chest.

In an earlier scene, a man and woman are carried unconscious from a hotel room and an employee states that they took an overdose of pills as part of a suicide pact.
