Note: The following text may contain spoilers

SILENT NIGHT, LONELY NIGHT is a romantic drama, from 1969, in which a married man and a married woman meet and become close during the Christmas holidays.

Sex

There are some moderate sex references, including implied rear view nudity as women stand in front of men and drop towels they hold in front of them. However, there is no strong detail.

Theme

There are references to mental illness, marital infidelity and suicide.

There is also brief sight of a dead girl held in her father's arms after she accidentally drowns; however, there is limited detail. There are scenes in which adults smoke cigarettes, and which reflect the time period in which the film is set. The film also contains very mild bad language ('God').
